LISTING OF BUILDING PERMITS FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION, DEMOLITION AND ADDITIONS/ALTERATIONS/REPAIRS AND THEIR CHARACTERISTICS - Before 2009, files capture permits only for basic structural work. From 2009 onward, they also capture permits for plumbing, electrical, etc. This results in higher dollar figures and numbers of permits for Additions, Alterations and Repairs and for New Construction. There is no change in how housing units are counted.

DETAILED CHARACTERISTICS OF PEOPLE AND HOUSING FOR INDIVIDUAL 2010 CENSUS TRACT PORTIONS INSIDE OR OUTSIDE KCMO - Some demographic data are from the 2010 Census while other data are from the 2013-2017 American Community Survey (ACS). The ACS replaces what until 2000 was the Long Form of the census; both have been based on surveys of a partial sample of people. The ACS sample is so small that surveys from five years must be combined to be reliable. The 2013-2017 ACS is the most recent grouping of 5 years of data. ACS data have been proportioned to conform with 2010 Census total population and total households.

The survey was part of a greater citywide effort to develop a comprehensive bicycle master plan. More than 600 people responded. Once seen as the worst city for bicycling in the U.S., KCMO is working on changing this image. In the Fall of 2013, the City posted an online survey to get a pulse of who is riding in KC and what would encourage people to ride more often.
